March 2 Last month, Wendy's confirmed it would be launching its new breakfast menu nationwide on March 2. New menu items available Monday include the Breakfast Baconator, the Frosty-ccino (a Frosty-inspired coffee drink) and the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit.

2007 The Baconator® In 2007, Wendy's stacked two fresh beef patties and paired it with American cheese, SIX slices of Applewood smoked bacon, and a soft bun. The iconic Baconator – the best way to eat a double bacon cheeseburger – was introduced for those Wendy's customers who wanted even more craveable burger options.

Wendy's History. The Baconator was introduced in April 2007 as part of a "back to basics" reorganization by Wendy's new CEO Kerrii Anderson. The addition of the product was part of a push to add menu items that appeal to the 18- to 34-year-old demographic and expand late-night sales.

The Baconator was an attempt to revive Wendy's after Dave Thomas died. The Baconator was launched in 2007 as part of an effort to revive Wendy's in the wake of its founder Dave Thomas' death in 2002.
